Pray to God not your problem

posted by Kevin and Corrie

When you have a problem and you decide to pray to God about it, you need to keep your eyes on him not your problem. The problem will be resolved, but it will be more difficult if you focus on the problem and not on the solution. 2 Chronicles 20:12 says “Our eyes are upon thee.” This means your eyes need to be on God not your problem.

Stay focused on God and he will solve your problem and you will be able to move on. Pray for the solution and then thank God for it each time you think about it. Don’t let the devil try to get in and try to convince you that you are not getting anywhere with God. He comes but for one thing and that’s to kill, steal, and destroy. Don’t let him win. Focus on God and you will win!

Do you receive what you ask the Lord for?

posted by Kevin and Corrie
I read a quote today that made perfect sense. I had never thought about it that way before, but it is so true. The quote is from O. Hallesby and it’s below.

“If God does not give you something you ask for, wait on Him. He will speak with you tenderly and sympathetically about the matter, until you yourself understand that He cannot grant your prayer.”

I was thinking about this quote and it came to me. It’s possible that the reason why God is not going to grant your prayer is because you are either not supposed to have whatever you asked for or you must go about it a different way. This could mean you have to work harder to get what you want because it’s not going to be handed to you or it could mean that what would happen after you received what you prayed about would have a negative outcome.

Just because you didn’t get what you wanted doesn’t mean God does not listen to your prayers. Let him speak to you and he will explain why he is not going to give it to you. You might be relieved and thankful in the end.

God knows what you need, so thank him for it!

posted by Kevin and Corrie
Many know that God knows what we need before we even ask it. Matthew 6:8 says Your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. So if this is the case, then we need to make sure when we ask, we thank him immediately for the result. When we continue to thank him for these things, the devil can’t get in and try to take it away.

The devil is here to kill, steal, and destroy and if we let him in, he will do is best and could very well succeed. We don’t want him to do this, so it’s very important that we stand strong on our faith and that we continue to pray and thank God for what we ask for.

So the next time you are in need of something, make sure you ask and then thank God for the result. Be specific as to what it is and then stand strong and wait for the result to happen.

Do you journal when you pray?

posted by Kevin and Corrie

Journaling when you pray is something that very few people do. They either don’t see the need, they don’t know they should, or they don’t have the time. Journaling is something that can come in handy when you are doing your Bible study each day or week. You can reflect on the activities you have done for the week and what you have asked God for.

We should pray on a regular basis. Even if it’s just a prayer thanking God for a wonderful day and to release the angels around your family and friends to make their way safe in whatever they have planned for that day. You may think you are going to have a perfect day and when you pray first thing in the morning, you will have a great day.

So set that alarm for ten or fifteen minutes earlier than normal or don’t hit the snooze but so many times. Start your day off with prayer and have a wonderful day.

Is it Fair…

posted by Kevin and Corrie

There are times when we may feel we are being ripped off or someone takes something away from us. This happens more often than we’d like to think. When this happens, we may feel upset or angry and it’s possible that we may take it out on others. This is not good for them or us, but it can be hard to stop. Romans 12:19 says Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

When this type of thing happens, remember that God has a plan for you. You need to pray about the situation you are currently in and ask God to help you get through it. If you didn’t catch yourself in time, you need to pray for forgiveness and then apologize to the person you took it out on and ask for their forgiveness.

You will feel better about yourself and the situation. Remember the next time something like this happens that you need to pray immediately for the strength to deal with it in the proper way.

Give thanks in any situation

posted by Kevin and Corrie

We all go through tough situations. Whether it is an illness, a death, or financial problems, we have all gone through them. For whatever reason, we have to go through these things. Most times these are attacks from the devil, but going through them and getting through them is the hard part. Telling the devil to go away and move on is hard for most people.

Jeremiah 33:11 says “…Give praise and thanks to the Lord of hosts, for the Lord is good; for His mercy and kindness and steadfast love endure forever! For I will cause the captivity of the land to be reversed and return to be as it was at first, says the Lord”.

As hard as it may be to be thankful and happy when all of these bad things are going on, you need to. You need to thank God everyday for the good things and that he is helping you stand strong and faithful during your difficult times. You need to listen to him and follow what he says as well.

Standing strong and continuing to stand on your faith can be difficult during hard times. Continue to pray for the courage and strength and God will show you the way and what you need to do. Just remember, God is on your side and he is there to help you every step of the way.

When you do this you will be the winner in your situation and in your life.

Do you have a house of prayer?

posted by Kevin and Corrie
We all know that prayer is important in our lives. It’s how we ask for forgiveness, it’s how we ask for help, and it’s how we ask for encouragement. Some pray everyday while others pray when they need to. Prayer is something that we should do at least once a day.

Did you know that your house can be a house of prayer if you want it to be?

Matthew 21:13 says “My house shall be called the house of prayer.”

Now this was God talking about his house, but the same can be of your house. All you have to do is ask God for your house to be a house of prayer and then follow what he says.

So it comes back to the same question. Do you have a house of prayer?

Are you being tested?

posted by Kevin and Corrie

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. James 1:2-4 (KJV)

Trouble can come in many forms. It can be a loss of a job or an illness. Most times we pray to God when these types of things test our faith. We need to pray every day for continually income and healthy lives. We need to pray this for all of our friends and family because we can be effected by their trouble as well.

It’s ok that you haven’t done this in the past because you’ve been forgiven. The time to start is now. Don’t wait until your faith is tested. Don’t be embarrassed or feel like you don’t know how to do this. God will lead the way and he will show you what to do and how to do it. So start your day with prayer and you will feel joy and happiness every day.

Rejoice!

posted by Kevin and Corrie

Rejoice evermore. 1 Thessalonians 5:16 (KJV)

This verse is true in so many ways. When you are feeling down because of the weather or a situation in your life, remember that God is there for you and he will always be there. Lift your problems to him and then be glad and rejoice. God will take care of you and any situation you are in. No matter what it is or what others say about it.

When you walk in God’s footsteps, you will be led in the direction you are to go, so don’t get discouraged or down because the light is at the end of the tunnel and God has a plan. So, do as my Grandma always says. “Keep on the sunny side”!

Do you let others get to you?

posted by Kevin and Corrie
The economy appears to be in a bit of a slump right now and that can cause people to be down and discouraged. When this happens, people are grumpy and take it out on others or they want you to feel the same as they do. We can’t do that because it’s not God’s desire for us. We need to chose to be cheerful and full of joy each and every day. No matter what happens or what doesn’t happen.
Here is a Bible verse for you to remember when you go out into the world and deal with people.
“Set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth”.  (Colossians 3:2, AMP)
